While the initial press release framed Blue Jay as an innovative solution for same-day delivery facilities, an Amazon spokesperson later clarified to TechCrunch that the project was always intended as an experimental prototype. This means that while Amazon publicly touted the technology, the expectation of a full-scale rollout was never realistic.
