AT&T has introduced OneConnect, a new subscription service that merges unlimited mobile data with gigabit home internet into a single plan. The service is available in three tiers: Individual ($90/month), Duo ($120/month), and Family ($225/month), all inclusive of taxes and fees—a rarity among major carriers.
Simplified Pricing, Limited Access
The Family tier supports an unlimited number of members with up to ten voice lines and ten data-only devices like wearables. The Individual tier covers one member, one voice line, and up to three data devices. Duo sits in the middle, accommodating two members and six data devices.
Currently, OneConnect is exclusively for new customers. Existing AT&T subscribers cannot migrate to this bundled service, although the company states that expansion to current users is possible after initial feedback is gathered.
BYOD and Fixed Plans
OneConnect operates on a “bring your own device” (BYOD) model, requiring eSIM-compatible, unlocked devices. Unlike AT&T’s standard wireless plans, OneConnect does not offer device financing or discounts. The bundled plan also removes the flexibility of individual line selection; all members share the same service tier.
Competitive Context
Other major carriers, like Verizon and T-Mobile, also offer home internet and mobile bundles, but typically through separate discounts rather than a combined subscription. AT&T is betting that customers will prefer the simplicity of a single, all-inclusive plan over managing two distinct services.
The inclusion of taxes and fees in OneConnect’s pricing is notable, as many providers add these costs separately. The bundled service also includes AT&T’s Active Armor call filtering, which may appeal to users seeking greater control over unwanted communications.
This move signals a broader trend toward simplified billing and bundled services in the telecommunications industry, but AT&T’s initial restriction to new customers suggests a cautious rollout strategy. The success of OneConnect will likely depend on whether customers prioritize simplicity and upfront pricing over the customization options offered by traditional plans.
