Talk about jumping on a bandwagon right as it starts rolling away.
Elon Musk announced it Wednesday. SpaceXAI is releasing Grok 4.5 to the public. Happening Thursday. July 9.
“Based on strong positive feedback… we will make Grok 4.4 available… tomorrow. It is an Opus-class model, but faster.”
Musk posted it on X. Straightforward. No fluff. Just specs. Faster. Cheaper. More efficient with tokens. That’s the pitch.
The company, which now blends AI, social networking, and plans for space data centers, has been beta testing this version. It’s private. For now. The current stable model is still Grok 4.3. Nobody’s touching that yet.
He called it Opus-class. Nods to the competition. Anthropic has Claude Opus, currently at 4.6. Then there’s Fable 5. The strongest one. It got pulled. Government intervention did the work. Just got back online for users recently.
Meanwhile OpenAI is busy too. GPT-5.6 lands Thursday as well. White House banned it briefly. Short ban. Now it’s out.
Why does everyone launch on Thursdays?
Musk says his version is cheaper. Faster. Efficient. Let’s see if it actually works that way. 🚀
