It’s on Peacock

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is going to streaming. Exclusive premiere rights? Peacock gets them. This is the second film in the franchise. The first one, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, hit theaters in 2025 and is already available on the NBCUniversal streamer. Wait, 2026? Yes. The Galaxy sequel was actually the first movie of 2026. And it made bank. It crossed $1 billion at the box office before anyone else did this year.

Being the first billion-dollar film of 2024 sets a high bar for the streaming window.

It sits at number two for highest-grossing video game movies of all time. Only its predecessor tops that list. Now it lands in living rooms.

Bonus features and star power

You want more than the film itself? Peacock is adding bonus content. There is a behind-the-scenes featurette. An exploration of the characters. A look at those iconic settings. Plus a deep dive into Brian Tyler’s score.

The cast is huge. Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlie Day are back as Mario, Peach and Luigi. Jack Black returns as Bowser. Keegan-Michael Key voices Toad. They are joined by newcomers. Brie Larson, Donald Glover and Glen Powell. Even Benny Safdie shows up.

Why not bring in all the talent you can find?
